St. George Utah Temple Rededication Set for December 2023

The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has announced that the St. George Utah Temple will be rededicated on Sunday, December 10, 2023. A public open house will be held from Friday, September 15, to Saturday, November 11, 2023, excluding Sundays and Saturday, September 30, which is general conference.

The St. George Utah Temple is the first temple built in Utah. It was dedicated in 1877 by President Brigham Young. The temple has been closed since November 2019 for a renovation. The renovation includes a new exterior, interior, and grounds.

The St. George Utah Temple is one of 168 temples operating worldwide. Temples are considered sacred places where members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints can make covenants with God.

The public open house will give people an opportunity to tour the temple and learn more about its history and purpose. The dedicatory sessions will be broadcast to all congregations in the St. George Utah Temple district.

The rededication of the St. George Utah Temple is a significant event for the Church and the community. It is a time to celebrate the history of the temple and to look forward to its continued use as a place of worship and learning.
