A former church in Vandergrift has been transformed into a new public venue. The Vandergrift United Methodist Church, which closed its doors in 2019, has been renovated and reopened as the Vandergrift Event Center.
The event center offers a variety of spaces for events, including a large sanctuary, a fellowship hall, and a kitchen. The sanctuary can accommodate up to 400 people, while the fellowship hall can accommodate up to 150 people. The kitchen is fully equipped and can be used to prepare food for events.
The event center is owned by the Vandergrift Borough and is managed by the Vandergrift Community Development Corporation. The venue is available to rent for a variety of events, including weddings, banquets, business meetings, and community gatherings.
“We are excited to open the Vandergrift Event Center to the community,” said Mayor Don Shollenberger. “This venue will provide a great space for people to gather and celebrate special occasions.”

The renovation of the former church was a major undertaking, but it was worth it to create a new space for the community to enjoy, said Mayor Shollenberger. “We are grateful to the Vandergrift Community Development Corporation for their hard work on this project.”
The event center is already booked for several events in the coming months, including a wedding, a banquet, and a business meeting. “We are excited to see how the community uses this space,” said Mayor Shollenberger. “We believe it will be a valuable asset to Vandergrift.”
