A Christian man was stabbed to death in Uganda on April 8 for his evangelistic work. Engineer Herbert, 42, was on his way home in the Namakwekwe area of Mbale when he was attacked by two men. One of the attackers was shouting to him about damaging the Islamic religion.
Herbert was a devout Christian who used his business to reach Muslims with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Through his business, he supported evangelism to Muslims and church leaders whose ministry focuses on Muslims in communities inside and outside Mbale.
“Herbert was very effective in evangelistic activities,” a pastor told Morning Star News. “He was always sharing the gospel with people, and he was very successful in leading people to Christ.”
Herbert’s death is a reminder of the dangers that Christians face in some parts of the world for their faith. According to the World Watch List, Uganda is ranked 120 out of 195 countries in terms of religious freedom. Christians in Uganda face persecution from both the government and Muslim extremists.
Herbert’s death is a tragedy, but it is also a reminder of the power of the gospel. Even in the face of persecution, Christians continue to share the good news of Jesus Christ.
